Magic for the Minnesota Twins has been on my magic ‘bucket list’ for a long time. I’ve been a Minnesota Twins fan for as long as I can remember.
I have distinct memories of watching Kirby Puckett play and then getting to shake his hand at a post-game meet-and-greet. In college, I was at a game where Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau—the M&M Boys—hit back-to-back home runs.
I was there for the last three regular-season games at the final season of the Metrodome, where the Twins clinched a playoff spot by sweeping the Whitesox. And a few years ago, I had the chance to design custom escape room experiences for Minnesota Twins players and fans during TwinsFest.
So when I got a call from someone in the Twins front office asking if I’d be interested in performing magic for the players and their families at Family Day, I was pretty excited. Okay. Very excited.
A Very Different Kind of Magic Show
The whole experience felt a little surreal.
I pulled into a private parking area at Target Field, came in through a loading dock, and was brought to a private concession area for Twins players, families, and guests.
Then I waited for the game to finish. And thankfully, the Twins won.
It was a long game and a hot one. Most of it was played in 95-degree-plus heat, so everyone was ready to get out of the sun by the time Family Day started.
Then I got to head down to the field and start doing magic.

I spent the event moving around and performing close-up magic and mentalism for players and their families.
I did several of the card tricks and mentalism pieces that have become staples of my shows. But the setting made everything feel different.
At one point, I was doing magic while standing at home plate.
I got to perform inside the dugouts.
And I got to watch a couple of current Minnesota Twins players have the exact reaction every magician hopes for: complete confusion followed by a dropped jaw.
One prediction in particular got a pretty great reaction.
I’m looking at you, Royce Lewis.

Certain gigs that stick with you.
Having the chance to walk onto the field at Target Field and then Performing magic for Minnesota Twins players and their families will stick with me for a long time.
It connected a lot of different parts of my life: going to games as a kid, watching games in person with my roommates in college, building an experience for TwinsFest, and now getting to perform magic right on the field.
It was a privilege to be invited.
And doing magic while standing on home plate is going to be hard to top.
